A doctor specializing in allergies, immunology, and candidate of medical sciences, Zlata Yermakova, revealed a simple accessory that can help alleviate allergy symptoms. During the warmer months, many people experience worsening allergies, forcing them to spend large amounts of money on antihistamine medications. However, there are simpler ways to manage this condition, such as wearing darkened glasses.
According to Dr. Yermakova, "It is best to avoid going outdoors during the blooming season of plants that trigger allergies. Wear darkened glasses when going outside. Take more showers to get rid of pollen on the skin and open mucous membranes. Close the car windows, especially when driving outside the city."
The strategy for managing allergies remains the same - when a person experiences symptoms, it is important to minimize contact with the allergen as soon as possible. For instance, during the blooming season, one can plan a trip to a location with a different climate. Additionally, the specialist recommended reducing outdoor activities early in the morning and in hot, dry weather, considering purchasing an air purifier with a filter for the home, and wearing darkened glasses more frequently.
The doctor clarified that during the blooming season, it is best to visit the coast or mountains, where the pollen levels are significantly lower. Furthermore, it is not recommended to keep indoor plants as they can trigger the condition, and consuming herbal-based preparations should be limited.
July 8 is recognized as World Allergy Day, established by the World Allergy Organization (WAO). Approximately 40% of the global population suffers from this condition. Allergic rhinitis is diagnosed in every third person, and bronchial asthma in every tenth person. Food allergies affect 35% of men, 65% of women, and 64% of children. The statistics of this condition are constantly increasing.
On World Allergy Day, the doctor revealed the most deadly allergens, as well as an unexpected household item that can trigger a severe allergic reaction. According to the expert, it is particularly important to monitor the reactions of young children, as the disease can be easily mistaken for simple intolerance.
