More than 58% of residents of the Penza region actively engage in sports, and according to the President's decree, this number should reach 70% by 2030. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to continue actively developing sports infrastructure.
In 2024, the federal project "Sport - the Norm of Life" was completed as part of the national project "Demography". A new sports and wellness complex "Lokomotiv" was opened, and the football field and running tracks were upgraded in the Vadinsky district.
The Kirilenko-for-Children Charitable Foundation equipped the Komsomolsky Park with a basketball court as part of the "Playground" project. Currently, the region has 4419 sports facilities, where over 82,000 people find their passion for sports.
The Penza region can be proud of its developed network of school and student sports clubs. There are a total of 279 clubs in schools, 14 in vocational education institutions, and 4 in higher educational institutions. In addition, there are 87 sports federations and 74 organizations in the region. Children and youth sports schools provide classes for over 45,000 children.
In 2025, new GTO (Ready for Labor and Defense) sites will be opened in Sosnovka, Inderka, Kolyshleye, Bashmakovo, Kamensk, and Belinsky in the Penza region. In addition, a modern "smart" training site will be opened in Serdobsk. Currently, there are 30 sites in the region for GTO training and testing.
The Penza region is preparing to host 15 championships, championships, and cups of Russia in 2025. They include cycling, competitions of the All-Russian Special Olympics in swimming, roller sports, and short track. Each new step brings the region closer to sporting achievements.
