A bag containing the body of a strangled young woman was found by law enforcement officials in the basement of a house in St. Petersburg. The body of the woman, who was in her thirties, was discovered in basement number 19 on Olga Berggolts Street, according to the Fontanka portal.
The body had been in the suitcase for twelve days. The police were able to find the murdered woman thanks to their colleagues in Uzbekistan.
It turned out that a 24-year-old man named Abbos had returned from St. Petersburg to Tashkent. He had been living in the northern capital with the 30-year-old woman, who also came to Russia from Central Asia. The girl's family became worried when they couldn't reach her and contacted the law enforcement agencies.
Law enforcement officers obtained a confession from Abbos for the murder of his acquaintance, which he committed on December 9th. The man strangled his partner and then packed her body in a suitcase and took it to the basement of the house on Olga Berggolts Street. After the murder, he left Russia. Today, the body was found by law enforcement officials in St. Petersburg following a report from colleagues in Central Asia.
The criminal case regarding the murder will be sent to Uzbekistan. The killer will be tried there.
