A neurologist named Maxim Pankov from the medical company "SberZdorovie" has revealed that up to 90-95% of cases of back pain are caused by nonspecific factors. These factors include muscle strain from excessive physical exertion or prolonged static tension, often associated with a sedentary lifestyle. Pankov also mentioned that the remaining 5-10% of back pain cases are caused by specific factors related to certain conditions such as radiculitis, rheumatoid arthritis, tumors, and others.
Contrary to popular belief, Pankov debunked the notion that osteochondrosis is a cause of back pain. He emphasized that the degeneration process of the spine structures significantly intensifies with age but is not the direct cause of back pain.
The neurologist expressed doubts about the possibility of getting enough rest in just 30 minutes. According to him, the genetically determined sleep norm is seven to eight hours, and it remains unchanged throughout one's life.
