The residents of Omsk celebrated City Day in a grand way. The Omsk Vodokanal, not wanting to be left out, prepared an extensive educational and interactive program for the city holiday. One of the most popular attractions was a photo zone, a replica of Omsk's symbol - the well with the famous plumber-sanitary technician, Stepanych, on Lyubinsky Avenue. To take a colorful photo, people lined up.
"It's a very clever idea. I have already sent the photo to all my friends. Many of them didn't even realize at first that it was an imitation. They thought I had actually climbed into a real well and temporarily replaced Stepanych," one of the participants of the original selfie laughs.
Photos could be taken not only with the city symbol, but also with a cheerful animator dressed as a water droplet. In the same tent, there were informational "Lessons of Clean Water".
A table surrounded by young Omsk residents was filled with flasks and test tubes. Liquids poured from one vessel to another changing color right before their eyes. In essence, everything that was happening was an entertaining story about the stages that river water goes through before becoming drinking water.
"Students understand technology and other interesting facts about water purification better when you show them what filters look like and how liquids behave under the influence of organic reagents. And you can reinforce the knowledge they have gained during excursions to our laboratories," explains Dmitry Sokolovsky, the head of the technology group at "OmskVodokanal".
In addition to the "lessons", competitions for accuracy were held in the park. It is easy to learn a new sport like cornhole. However, to accurately throw a small pouch into a hole on a special board, you need to practice. Another useful game is the "EcoBiathlon", which helps children test their knowledge in the field of proper waste disposal. Water guns are used to answer questions, and they must be directed at the correct answer.
"With the help of this game, students remember better that paper, plastic, and glass need to be sorted. Batteries and light bulbs should not be thrown in the general garbage bin, and leftover food should not be flushed down the toilet," says Alexandra Nikishkina, the manager of internal communications.
In another game called "Professional Intuition", specialists from different fields are given appropriate tools. And the quiz "Myth or Fact" allows participants to verify the correctness of certain stereotypes or debunk them. People are amazed and learn a lot of new things. For example, there is a common belief that you need to brush your teeth after every meal, but in reality, it is enough to do it twice a day - in the morning and evening. And the two liters of water that a person needs to drink daily is also a stereotype.
"It turns out you should drink as much water as your body requires. And there is no need to additionally filter tap water. Omsk water is of high quality and is included in the list of '100 Best Products in Russia'," share the participants of the quiz.
It is worth noting that, taking advantage of the occasion, Omsk residents had the opportunity to get answers from specialists to their everyday questions. Currently, the company provides water supply and drainage services to 990,000 subscribers - individuals and more than 8,000 legal entities.
Employees of Omsk Vodokanal also participated in the Siberian International Marathon. Over forty people, including department heads, took part in either the three or ten-kilometer race. The average age of the runners was thirty years old.
The script for the holiday was developed by the employees of the water company themselves.
