A woman who burned clothes in the Eternal Flame in Sochi has been sent to court, as per the press service of the regional Investigative Committee. It is noted that she was in a state of alcohol intoxication at the time of the crime.

The investigation believes that the woman threw bags of clothes into the eternal flame of the monument to the soldiers from Sochi who died in the battles during the Great Patriotic War. She has been charged with damaging a memorial structure. The accused has fully confessed her guilt and is currently under house arrest. Sufficient evidence has been collected by the investigation, and therefore the criminal case with an approved indictment has been sent to court for consideration on the merits, according to the publication.

Earlier, two 18-year-old boys were roasting sausages over the Eternal Flame at the Memorial to the Fallen in Kirishi, Leningrad Oblast. They had an impromptu picnic at the site of the burial of 4,586 Soviet soldiers. A criminal case was initiated against them under the article "Rehabilitation of Nazism by a group of persons." The young men were promptly arrested. The department has prepared a motion to the court to detain them in custody as a preventive measure.
